Our main lodge, seen in the large photo above, is located on lower Toobally Lake, the headwaters of the Smith River. This lodge has a large kitchen, a very comfortable sitting lounge with a lake view, and
two dining rooms. This lodge also has a laundry cabin complete with automatic washer/dryer, a shower house with 2 showers, and 3 guest cabins which each sleep 4
(we keep it to 2 people per cabin, except for familes and friends who prefer to be together). We also have a boathouse, storage cabin, staff cabins and generator cabin.
All cabins are serviced with power from 7am until 7pm. Communications are via satellite phone but we will have Internet access in late 2009.
Lunches can be taken at the lodge, boxed or done as a shore lunch depending on the day's activities and the weather. Meal times are somewhat flexible except for supper which is at 6pm but they are more than welcome to go fishing afterwards.
To the right is the upper lake lodge - click on the photo to enlarge it. The upper lake lodge is smaller than the one on the lower lake, but has everything the lower lodge
does, including 3 guest cabins (perfect clones of the lower ones), shower house, boathouse, and staff
quarters. There is no permanent power on the upper lake but we do have a portable generator for charging cameras etc.
Outhouses are used at all locations.
All towels and bedding are provided, as well as daily housekeeping. All trips are fully guided, though guests are permitted to go out on their own after supper. Boats are 14-foot Lunds with 15hp motors.
See the Gear page for suggestions as to what to bring, both general and fishing gear specifically.
We have one cabin that is available on a bed-and-breakfast basis for people travelling in their own float plane. The rate for 2 people is $175 per night, which includes dinner the night of arrival, breakfast the next morning and a boat and motor the next day until 5pm or so. Groups of more than 2 must email a week ahead as we keep a limited stock of supplies on hand. There is also a limited supply of avgas for sale.
The lodge at the upper lake can be rented independently from July thru September. It accommodates up to 10 people, and is equipped with 4 sea kayaks, 2 14-foot boats with 15hp outboards and a 12-foot boat with 15hp. motor. All PFDs (life vests) are supplied. Guests can either supply their own food or we can have it brought in for them.
It can also be rented in the winter after the lake freezes (usually after Christmas) right through the 1st of April. You can ski, snowshoe, ice fish, etc. In the winter months there is no running water in the lodge.
